Taking out the trash isn’t the sexiest chore
The first time my partner took the recycling to the old train station in Danville, he declared "I'm never doing that again!" The sorting of materials and cross-talk chattering of the locals was too much for us flat-landers used to putting everything at the curb before work and toting empty bins back to the house at the end of the day. But, it wasn't long before the Saturday morning chore became a eagerly anticipated ritual. He went with a question to ask Bob, who knew everyone in town, and returned with news and new friends!
We might note that if you should want to get into a good mood and be more sociable, listening to WDEV's "Music To Go To The Dump By" can be a good warm-up. I don't recall recycling 50 years ago, but dump to recycling center, an easy transposition these days.
